Directional, not fixed
Roadmap
At Slashwork, we're working relentlessly to deliver the communication tool the world needs in 2026. In the era of AI. When the way we work and the way we communicate is changing faster than ever before in human history.
Building a communication tool in this topsy turvy environment is not easy. If there exists a team to do it, I believe it's us. Outline here is the broad strokes of where we're headed with Slashwork.
This is not a buttoned down roadmap with dates and deliverables. We're moving far too quickly for that. Rather, this is an outline of the big ticket items that we're delivering. The specific order of delivery will change because we're incredibly responsive to our users' needs.
Plans are worthless, but planning is everything.

Analytics and Reach
Since day one, it's been our goal to deliver to comms teams a communication tool that lets them actually understand who read their messages. Slashwork is a tool that deeply understands the need for getting the right messages to the right people and -- crucially -- letting the sender know.
Email and Slack alike leave the most important communicators in a company completely without feedback about whether or not key messages have made it through.
Detailed Seen State and Analytics
We're currently iterating on seen-state tracking (similar to WhatsApp and Signal) that will enable every single post or comment to reflect who has seen it. But beyond that, we're building an analytics platform that allows the creator of a piece of content to see analytics about who has seen it and how much time people spent with it.
Guaranteed Reach
One of the most requested features from the Facebook Workplace project was the ability of company leaders to ensure that a particular message made it to every single person on the team. Companies without Slashwork rely on chains of emails and Slack messages and more extreme measures involving Workday and other workflow tools. Slashwork gives you a new mechanism to fight the battle of change management: guaranteed reach.
Our newsfeed algorithm isn't like Facebook or TikTok. We're not building an engagement farm. Instead, we have the algorithm tuned to give you the most relevant work content. And one of the levers admins can pull is saying "This post must reach everyone." When you do that, Slashwork will ensure that the post is top-of-feed for every single person until they've definitely seen the post.
Automatic Translations
The larger teams using Slashwork are typically international, distributed teams. They have workers on multiple continents. Slashwork is a killer tool for ensuring that team members who speak different languages can communicate with one another effortlessly. We're mid-stride shipping automatic translation of posts, comments, and messages.
When this work lands, any content added to Slashwork will be automatically translated by an LLM into every language spoken by any member of your company. Someone can make a post in French and have it displayed in English to their anglophone colleagues. When a Portuguese speaker replies, the original author will see their message in French. It's honestly magical.
AI Agents
You can create personal AI agents backed by OpenAI that can respond to posts in your groups. With Agents, you get a programmable AI presence in your workspace — one you can customize with a prompt and personality, and which can post, comment, and react on your behalf.
This is still a work in progress and not generally available.
MCP Server Integration
Slashwork is built on top of a powerful GraphQL API. We build the product experience of Slashwork on top of the exact same API that we offer to developers. We've also deeply optimized our API for LLMs to code against it. Because of this, building integrations with Slashwork is absurdly convenient and straightforward. Tell your coding assistant the URL of your instance, give it an access token, and you'll be shocked how successfully the agents is able to build the integration you want.
All the same, many highly technical teams have requested for us to make the full API surface, reads and writes, available as MCP tools. It's on our roadmap, but because the current API is already so powerful, we haven't shipped MCP coverage yet.
Mobile
Killer mobile apps are a key part of our product direction. We have already shipped iOS and Android apps that bring Slashwork to your mobile device. Our mobile apps bring all of the feature richness you expect from Slashwork. Push notifications. Images. Voice notes. Reactions. Emojis. The lot.
We're still iterating on the core product experience on mobile. Currently in flight are a host of features improvements, design and user experience improvements, and media support.
SSO / OIDC Login
We're working on support for SSO via the OIDC protocol, allowing companies to use their existing identity provider for login. With SSO, you get a seamless, secure authentication experience — users log in with the same credentials they use for everything else at work, and admins get centralized control over access.
Org Charts
For many companies, there is no singular place to go to understand who reports to whom. The constellations of contractors and part-timers. The dotted lines. From our team's time as members of early Facebook, we know this challenge intimately.
That's why we have an org chart feature in progress. This feature will give you easy access to see who reports to whom and how the team structure of your company looks when you zoom out.
Do Not Disturb Mode
Nothing is more annoying than getting pings from the team when you need focus time. That's why we're building a feature to allow you to completely silence all notifications and interrupts from Slashwork.
Our Do Not Disturb feature is currently scoped and in the design phase, shipping sometime in H1 or early H2.
Workday Integration
Many of the larger companies that we've spoken with have requested to manage their Slashwork users from external sources of truth, such as Workday. We do want to support this eventually, but it's not currently scoped work.
Data Residency
Slashwork is a London-based company that is owned by a US parent company. Our servers are all currently based in the US. We serve users across the global, including many folks in the UK and EU.
We have scoped and outlined the work required to have a Slashwork instance be homed entirely within a specific region. We'll be delivering the infrastructural work required for this soon.
Rich Text Composer Improvements
We're currently iterating on our core post and message composer experience. While we consider the current composer to be usable, it's far from the level of polish and predictability we're aiming for. We've made big strides on the native mobile composers for iOS and Android already, but we're not done yet.
In the coming weeks you can expect to see a huge amount of polish work landing. Better support for markdown while typing. Better controls for formatting text. Much more predictable behaviors while editing.
Done and dusted
Shipped
The items list below are all the prior roadmap items that we've scoped, built, and shipped. We're a small team, but we're incredibly high-velocity. We ship updates and improvements multiple times per day, every day.
We're extremely proud of how many items listed below were direct requests from our design partners. Making a killer product experience for our early users is everything to us.
Invite Users to Groups & Chats
You can now invite users to a group or chat directly from within the conversation. With in-conversation invites, you get a fast, contextual way to bring someone into a discussion without navigating away to a settings screen — just type their name and add them.
Voice Note Tap-to-Record with Auto-Send
On mobile, tapping the microphone now starts recording immediately, and holding the button will auto-send when released. With this updated voice note UX, you get a faster, more fluid recording experience — less ceremony, more flow.
Stacked Notifications with AI Summaries
Notifications are now grouped into smart stacks, and an AI agent automatically generates a plain-English summary of what's in each stack. With stacked notifications, you get a dramatically cleaner inbox — instead of a wall of individual items, you see grouped cards with a brief summary of what happened, so you can scan and prioritize at a glance.
Google Meet Integration
You can now create a Google Meet link directly from a chat or group. With the Google Meet integration, you get one-click meeting creation without leaving Slashwork — the link is posted into the conversation so everyone can join immediately.
Notification Filters
You can now filter the notification panel by type — mentions, reactions, new posts, and so on. With notification filters, you get the ability to zoom in on exactly the kind of activity you care about right now without scrolling through everything.
Guest Users
Admins can now create guest user accounts with limited access. With guest users, you get a way to bring in contractors, clients, or external collaborators without giving them full access to everything in your workspace.
Onboarding Flow
New workspace setups now walk through a guided onboarding experience including identity setup, importing existing content, and configuring your workspace. With the onboarding flow, you get a smooth path from "blank slate" to a populated, configured workspace in minutes.
Google Chat History Import
Teams migrating from Google Chat can now import their full message history, including reactions and user mappings, into Slashwork. With the Google Chat importer, you get a complete migration experience that preserves all the conversations your team has already had.
Scheduled Posts
Posts can now be scheduled for a future date and time, with timezone support and a natural language date entry field. With scheduled posts, you get the ability to draft content in advance and have it published automatically — perfect for announcements, newsletters, and content that should go out at exactly the right moment.
Default Groups
Admins can now designate groups as "default" — new users are automatically added to these groups when they join the workspace. With default groups, you get an effortless way to ensure every employee is connected to the most important company channels from day one.
Slack History Import
You can import your team's Slack message history into Slashwork, including reactions, user mappings, and channel structure. With the Slack importer, you get a migration path that preserves your team's existing context so nothing is left behind when you switch.
Job Title & Org Chart (Reports-To)
User profiles now include a job title and a "reports to" field, and a person's direct reports are shown on their profile. With org chart fields, you get a lightweight organizational structure baked into your directory — see who manages who without maintaining a separate spreadsheet.
Work Start & End Dates
User profiles can now include a work start date and end date. With start and end dates, you can see tenure at a glance and track when team members are joining or leaving, making transitions more transparent for everyone.
Navigation Keyboard Shortcuts & Help Modal
A keyboard shortcuts help modal documents all available hotkeys, and navigation items now display their shortcut on hover. With the hotkey system, you get a discoverable, expert-level navigation experience — pinned groups, search, and key views are all one keystroke away.
Location Fields (Users & Offices)
Users can now set their location, and company admins can create a list of office locations for people to choose from. With location fields, you get a clear picture of where your distributed team is based — useful for scheduling, time zones, and knowing who's in-person when.
QR Code Login
You can log in to the mobile app by scanning a QR code displayed in the web app. With QR code login, you get a frictionless way to authenticate on your phone — no password typing on a small keyboard, just scan and you're in.
WhatsApp History Import
You can import your WhatsApp chat history directly into Slashwork. With the WhatsApp importer, you get your team's existing conversation history migrated over — threads, media, and participants are mapped to your new workspace so institutional knowledge isn't lost in the transition.
Custom Emojis
Workspace admins can now upload custom emojis that appear in the emoji picker alongside standard ones. With custom emojis, you get expressive, company-specific reactions and icons — perfect for inside jokes, product names, team mascots, or brand assets.
Image Lightbox
Clicking any image now opens it full-screen in a lightbox with gallery navigation. With the image lightbox, you get a proper photo viewing experience — browse through all the images in a thread one by one without needing to open each in a new tab.
Profile Hovercards
Hovering over a profile picture now shows a hovercard with the person's name, job title, and a quick link to their full profile. With profile hovercards, you get instant people context without leaving the conversation — know who you're talking to without navigating away.
Invite Emails
Admins can now send invitation emails to unclaimed user accounts. With invite emails, you get a clean, branded way to bring new colleagues into the workspace — recipients receive a personalized email with a claim link to set up their account.
Google Workspace User Import
Company admins can import their organization's users directly from Google Workspace. With Google Workspace import, you get your entire team provisioned in minutes instead of manually creating each account — names, email addresses, and profiles flow in automatically.
Rich Text Formatting Controls
The composer now has a full formatting toolbar supporting bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, headings, lists, code blocks, and block type switching. With rich formatting controls, you get the ability to write structured, well-formatted posts and messages without needing to know markdown syntax.
Link Previews
Pasting a URL into a post or message now generates a rich link preview with the page title, description, and image. With link previews, you get context for links at a glance — readers can understand what a URL leads to before they click it.
Voice Notes & AI Transcription
You can record and send voice notes directly from the composer, and they're automatically transcribed by AI so recipients can read them without listening. With Voice Notes, you get a fast way to communicate nuance and tone that's hard to capture in text. The transcription makes them fully searchable and accessible.
Desktop Browser Notifications
Slashwork can now send native OS-level desktop notifications when you're away from the tab. With desktop notifications, you get real-time alerts for mentions and messages even when you're working in another app, so you never miss an urgent message while you're heads-down.
Merge Groups
Administrators can now merge two groups into one, combining their members and message history. With group merging, you get a clean path for consolidating duplicate or overlapping spaces without losing the conversations people have already had.
File & Document Uploads
You can now attach files and documents — including PDFs — to posts and chat messages. With file uploads, you get a way to share working documents, reports, spreadsheets, and other files directly in the conversation where they're being discussed.
Notification Aggregation
Similar notifications are now grouped together rather than flooding your inbox one at a time. With notification aggregation, you get a cleaner, less noisy view of your activity — instead of ten separate "reacted to your post" items, you see one aggregated summary.
Streams
Streams are a new content type for high-volume, read-optimized broadcast channels. With Streams, you get a compact, timeline-style view of messages from connected applications — perfect for automated feeds like deploys, alerts, or curated news that would be too noisy in a normal group.
Personal AI Agent Chat
Every user now has a personal AI agent they can chat with directly. With your Personal Agent, you get a private, conversational AI assistant that knows your workspace — you can ask questions about what's happening, ask it to take actions, and have it keep notes about your work. The agent conversation updates in real time with streaming responses.
Keyboard Shortcuts (Web)
Keyboard shortcuts let you jump directly to pinned groups, open search, and navigate the app without touching the mouse. With keyboard shortcuts, you get a power-user experience that keeps your hands on the keyboard and reduces the friction of switching between conversations.
Agent API Keys
Agents can now be given API keys for programmatic access. With Agent API Keys, you get a way to integrate your Slashwork agents with external systems and scripts — enabling automated workflows that post, comment, or query on an agent's behalf.
Agent Memory
Agents can now maintain persistent memory across conversations. With Agent Memory, your personal agent retains facts and context over time — so you don't have to re-explain your preferences or background each time you start a new conversation.
User & Group Profile Photos + Cover Photos
Users and groups now support both a circular profile photo and a wide cover photo. With rich profile photos, you get a much more expressive and recognizable identity throughout the app — profiles feel like real people, and groups feel like places.
Company Admin Panel
Company administrators now have a dedicated admin panel for managing users — provisioning new members, updating profiles, and overseeing group membership. With the admin panel, you get the governance tooling needed to manage a real organization without needing to touch the backend.
Notification AI Agent
An AI agent now runs in the background to process your notifications and surface what matters most. With the Notification Agent, you get intelligent summarization and prioritization of your inbox — the agent reads context across all your activity and can give you a concise briefing on what needs your attention.
Post & Comment Editing
Posts and comments are now editable after they've been sent. With edit support, you get the ability to correct typos, update information, or clarify your message without needing to delete and repost — and edited content is clearly marked so readers know it was revised.
Dark Mode (Mobile Native)
The native iOS and Android apps now fully support dark mode. With dark mode on mobile, you get a comfortable, battery-friendly experience across all screens — chats, groups, notifications, profiles, and the feed all respond correctly to your device's light/dark preference.
Mark All Notifications as Read
A single action now clears all unread notifications at once. With "Mark all as read," you get a fast escape hatch from a busy notification inbox so you can start fresh without having to click through each item individually.
Group Admin Roles
Group members can now be promoted to or demoted from admin status. With admin roles, you get proper governance controls — admins can manage membership, update group settings, and delete posts, while regular members contribute without being able to change the group's configuration.
@Mentions
You can now @mention individuals or groups in posts and comments. With @Mentions, you get a direct way to pull someone into a conversation — they'll receive an in-app and push notification so they never miss a direct callout.
AI-Powered Image Alt Text & Search Embeddings
Uploaded images are automatically analyzed to generate alt text and vector embeddings. With AI image understanding, you get more accessible image posts and the ability to find images through semantic search — search for what's in a photo, not just what you named the file.
Image Attachments
You can now attach images to posts and chat messages on both web and mobile. With image attachments, you get a visual layer to your conversations — share screenshots, photos, and diagrams right inline in the thread.
Push Notifications (iOS & Android)
The native mobile apps now deliver push notifications for new messages, replies, and @mentions. With push notifications, you get timely alerts on your phone even when the app is closed, so important work conversations don't slip by unnoticed.
Native Mobile App (iOS & Android)
Slashwork is now available as a native mobile app on iOS and Android. With the mobile app, you get a fast, native experience for chats, groups, notifications, and your feed — with a UI that's built specifically for mobile interaction patterns rather than a responsive web view.
In-App Notifications
A notification bell in the header now surfaces all your activity in real time — replies to your posts, comments on threads you're watching, new group additions, and more. With in-app notifications, you get a unified inbox for everything that matters to you, right inside Slashwork.
Secret Groups
Groups can now be marked as secret, making them invisible to non-members. With Secret Groups, you get private spaces for sensitive conversations that don't show up in any group lists for people who haven't been explicitly invited.
Search
Search lets you find posts and comments across your workspace using natural language. Under the hood, content is embedded with vector representations and queries are matched semantically — so you get relevant results even when the exact words don't match.
People Directory
The Directory gives you a searchable list of everyone in your company, with profile photos and basic info. With the Directory, you get an easy way to find colleagues, see who's on a team, and put a name to a face.
Dark Mode
The entire web application now supports light and dark modes that follow your system preference. With Dark Mode, you get a comfortable viewing experience in any lighting condition, with a carefully tuned palette that works across all parts of the UI.
Emoji Picker with AI Search
The emoji picker uses vector embeddings to find semantically similar emojis — not just exact keyword matches. With AI-powered emoji search, you get a much more intuitive picking experience: searching "happy" or "excited" surfaces exactly what you're looking for, fast.
Group Cover Photos
Groups can now have cover photos uploaded to S3, giving each space a visual identity. With cover photos, you get a richer, more personalized workspace where groups feel distinct and recognizable at a glance.
News Feed
The Feed surfaces posts from across all the groups you belong to in a single unified view. With Feed, you get a company-wide pulse — a river of activity so you can stay on top of everything happening without jumping from group to group.
Emoji Reactions
You can react to any post or comment with an emoji. With Reactions, you get a lightweight, expressive way to acknowledge a message or show how you feel without adding noise to the conversation.
Email Notifications
When someone replies to your post or adds a comment, you'll receive an email notification so you never miss important updates — even when you're not actively in the app.
Chat
Chat is a dedicated space for real-time direct messaging and group conversations, separate from Groups. With Chat, you get a fast, threaded messaging experience purpose-built for quick back-and-forth, whether one-on-one or in a team channel.
Groups
With Groups, you can create shared spaces for your team to post, discuss, and stay aligned. Each group has members, a feed of posts, and threaded comments — giving structured conversations a permanent home in your workspace.
